Nigel joined Ware & Kay as partner and head of Family Law in Wetherby in April 2007. Before joining the firm he was a senior member of a National Family Law team at one of the top 10 legal firms in the country. In February 2008 he was joined by Natalie Smith, also a former member of the mentioned National Team. He is widely respected both in Yorkshire and further afield both for his legal skill and for his excellent service to clients.
He receives referrals from and acts for a broad range of people including business owners, high net worth individuals, civil servants, those in the health care / medical and teaching professions, the finance and banking industries, and police officers of all ranks.
Nigel's experience includes cases involving considerable and complex personal injury awards, pensions and interests arising under trusts; as well as cases with an international dimension.
He has presented at the National Annual Road Show for Resolution (a national Association of Family Law Professionals). He assisted the BBC with their coverage of two key decisions relating to finances on divorce, and with comment on a case involving a request for recognition of a "same sex marriage". He appeared in a financial negotiation hearing for television and, has been quoted in articles appearing in The Law Society Gazette and The Yorkshire Post.
The Wetherby Office is ideally located for ease of access from and to Harrogate, and Leeds (where Nigel recently worked). The office is a beautiful Manor House with lawned gardens, private entrance and with parking on site.
