About us

Seddons is a leading law firm based in the heart of London's West End in Portman Square, W1. Our Family Department helps individuals from a variety of different backgrounds with a particular emphasis on business entrepreneurs and professionals, often with an international element. We frequently act for high profile clients who appreciate our experience in dealing with the media.

We offer a free 30 minute consultation to all new enquiries from DivorceAid. This initial appointment is usually sufficient to answer all of the questions you may have before deciding to instruct us.

We are sensitive to the many issues that can arise upon relationship breakdown and look for cost-effective, pragmatic solutions to help reduce the effect the separation will have on you and your family. We advocate a conciliatory approach to family and matrimonial matters in order to encourage clear, constructive dialogue throughout the course of your matter. If Court proceedings are necessary, we firmly protect your best interests throughout whilst seeking every opportunity to promote settlement.

Whether you look upon your situation as amicable or whether communication with your partner has broken down, our Family Department has a broad range of expertise to ensure that you, the client, remain in control.

We advise on the following

* Divorce and separation;

* All aspects of financial settlements (including those with an international element);

Prenuptial & Postnuptial Agreements Podcast
We have also produced a podcast on the subject of prenuptial and postnuptial agreements. The download, available at http://www.seddons.co.uk/people/family-and-children/podcasts/, serves as an accessible introduction to this rapidly developing area of the law. In the course of the four minute programme, Deborah Jeff takes a closer look at:

*the kind of person who should consider a prenuptial or postnuptial agreement;

*what should be included in these agreements;

*the steps that should be taken to give these agreements maximum weight in future divorce proceedings; and

*the likely costs of the same.
