Je l'ai trop aime pour ne le point hair!
I have loved him/her too much not to feel any hatred.
Love turning to hate
This is the time when feelings of love could turn to steel. You could be weary and struggling financially. The legalities of the separation seem endless. No, you are not the only person to think this. Why did this happen to you? You didn't deserve this!
I don't love you anymore
These few words seem so cruel. Where did the love go? How can you cope when you are so fearful and exhausted? You will cope.
Letting go of the past
Hatred is also a way to let go of the past, to cut the ties between you as you have become aware that your partner has already done this with you. You may not recognise this 'new' person, your spouse. Who are you? Have you turned into someone else? Who was I married to? Did I ever know you? These are common thoughts and maybe thinking of your spouse as someone new could help you to reconcile your feelings at this difficult time.
Of all the hatred the world produces, a wife's hatred for her husband,
when she does hate him, is the strongest.
Hatred is the opposite of love.
Look for love in your life; it will not be with your partner now. It will come from your family and friends and they will become increasingly important to you. In the future it could come from someone else, no matter how negative you feel now.
In this poem called 'Love,' Emmet Fox gives us hope. (Publisher unknown).
Love is by far the most important thing of all. It is
the Golden Gate of Paradise. Pray for the
understanding of love and meditate on it daily.
It casts out fear. It is the fulfilling of the law.
It covers a multitude of sins. Love is absolutely invincible.
There is no difficulty that love will not conquer;
no disease that enough love will not heal; no door that love will not open; no gulf that love will not bridge; no wall that enough love will not throw down; no sin that enough love will not redeem.
It makes no difference how deeply seated may be the trouble,
how hopeless the outlook, how muddled the tangle, how great the mistake; a sufficient realisation of love will dissolve it all. If only you could love enough, you would be the happiest and most powerful being in the world.
