Life after the break in Oxfordshire
Do check with your local Relate branch for details of help on offer there.
An eight-week course for people coming to terms with the ending of a relationship
The end of a relationship or marriage can be a difficult and painful experience. It can leave you feeling confused, lonely and lacking in confidence in yourself and the future. Feelings of betrayal, guilt or rejection are common. Anger, sadness and confusion are often intense. Moving forward can be hard when trust, self-confidence and self-esteem have been shaken.
In these eight weekly sessions we look at how relationships work and why they some- times go wrong. We consider ways of managing our own needs as well as those of family and friends, and of increasing the skills and confidence needed to build new relationships in the future. You will meet men and women in similar situations, have the chance to share experiences in a confidential group and make new friends.
Relate Oxfordshire will be running an eight-week course on Thursday evenings starting on 22 April 2010 at our offices at 33 Iffley Road, Oxford. The sessions will commence at 7pm each evening and will finish at 9pm. There will be a short break when tea and coffee and biscuits will be provided.
The cost of the course is £135 for the eight sessions and this fee is payable when reserving a place on the course. We have a small number of places at reduced cost for those people who would benefit from the course but are unable to afford the full fee. Please telephone for details.
If you would like a chance to discuss the course further, please telephone Mandy Blair or Maureen Buy at Relate on Oxford 242960.

We are sorry but this lovely charity below has not received funding and has ceased to operate. Please contact your local relate office for details of courses and help on offer. Please kindly mention Divorce Aid.
There is a group of people not connected with Aquila who run small 'self-help' workshops. They are not trained professionals but people who have been through divorce and have attended workshops themselves. Please see http://www.drw.org.uk/
The Aquila Care Trust - has ceased activities
Very often, those experiencing relationship breakdown,
separation or divorce feel a great need of support from others who are
going through the same thing. Feelings of isolation, fear for the future
and uncertainty about how to "pick up the pieces" are very
natural and common reactions. We are delighted therefore, to be able
to let you know of a
network of independent support groups, operating in locations across
the UK, who give support to people in this situation.
Each of these groups had their origins in the Aquila Care Trust, a
registered charity which existed between 1991 and 2007 to support those
experiencing the trauma of relationship breakdown. These groups are
all run by men and women who have been through this experience themselves
and
recovered. They offer support, understanding, guidance, care and
companionship to help you put your life back together.
Their support services include a programme called Breakthrough, run
either over 8 weeks or as a residential or non-residential weekend programme,
designed to help you meet with others in the same situation and to explore
together the main
emotional and practical issues you face.
The aim of Breakthrough is to help participants develop strategies for
coping and give them hope that they can
move ahead positively with their lives.
